The article that I write this time is a personal artifact paper. The personal paper is a paper that describes the artifact that can clearly indicate the author’s identity and the subculture that he/she belongs to.

The artifact that I choose for the artifact paper is a book named Analects. The Analects of Confucius is mainly composed of quotations and supplemented by narration, which reflects Confucius’ political views, ethical thoughts, moral concepts, and educational principles.  I choose analects as my artifact because it can clearly describe the subculture that I belong to, which is Confucianism. It has a huge influence on my manners and thinking. 

The purpose I  hope to accomplish for this paper is to let people know about this book and its influence on my thoughts and manners. Because the analects are the embodiment of my values and morals as well as those of most Chinese people.

I think the potential audience for the essay is the people who want to know the different subcultures. Also, I think the people in the same class as the author are also the potential audience because this is the best way for them to understand the identity and the characteristics of the author.

The relationship between me, my potential audience, and the medium I was using to communicate are that I describe the background of the artifact to my audience in the introduction, talk about the story and characteristics of the artifacts in the body paragraphs, and stated the significance of the artifact in the conclusion.
